1. Display type – with the wide range of available display types you have to choose the one that best fits with you and your family’s needs. You can either choose a plasma/LED or LCD television. Of these two types, an LCD television is more affordable and can last longer than the former TV type. With regard to the picture quality, LED TVs are usually more advanced with clear and crisp pictures. Its main disadvantage however is that it is very expensive.

2. Resolution – by nature, the latest televisions have high resolutions already, but you still have to choose between the 720-p resolution and the 1080-p resolution. Of the two, the former is cheaper. If you only need to watch your favorite shows on cable TV, then you should settle for the lesser resolution. If you enjoy watching HD Blu-ray movies, then you can consider the latter. As always, the better resolution is more expensive.

3. Refresh rate – this TV feature helps you determine how fast the TV pixels refresh and this is measured in hertz (Hz). The standard refresh rate for most televisions is 60 Hz, but more sophisticated televisions can reach up to 240 Hz of refresh rate. Televisions with higher refresh rates are more appropriate if you love to watch action movies or sport car racing events.

4. Appropriate ports – older televisions do not have an HDMI port. This can become a problem because this type of port is the standard port for processing high-definition images. Before you purchase your 15 inch flat screen TV make sure that it has this port.

A 15” TV is more appropriate for your bedrooms or guest rooms because it is easy to move around and it won’t consume too much energy that could contribute to higher utility bills. It is always important to consider your needs first before going to the store to purchase it. Of course, if you’re on a limited budget, the lesser known brands are much cheaper than the leading television manufacturers. However, do not sacrifice quality for quantity. For all you know the most expensive 15 inch flat screen TV may not be the right one for you.

Upon that decision you will need to determine what size and weight limitations you will need to look at when determining the type of stand you want. Entertainment centers are also considerably more in cost as well but if you have the money and space these are definitely a nice addition to the home and can bring great enjoyment.

As mentioned at the beginning of this article you might also consider flat screen tv wall mounts as well, which will allow you to mount the flat screen tv onto the wall. This actually is the best space saving option, but there are things to consider when deciding if this is the option for you. You will need to determine if you have the “know how” to actually make this work or whether you need someone to come in and professionaly install the tv wall mounts. This can be tricky as you will want to hide your wiring in the wall so that they are not sticking out everywhere.
